The MDz

Biography

Jalani Daishaun Wilson (born August 11, 1990),

Better known for his stage name The MDz and Multi Dimensionz, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter & producer currently residing in Los Angeles, California.

The MDz bounced around & lived in over 11 cities while growing up in Southern California. That includes Los Angeles, Compton, Inglewood, Apple Valley, Victoville & Hesperia to name a few. He attended the local schools in the area but his rebel mentality often landed him in detention with a handfull of suspensions.

In his early teenage years he joined the All American Football team for the city. He earned his respect on the field and made the All Star Team in his league. Football seemed like the only thing that could keep him out of trouble.

When he wasn't on the field, The MDz was writing lyrics and making beats with his friends on his Playstation. Thanks to the heavy influence his big brother had on his life who was also a rapper and was considered one of the best lyricists in The High Desert, The MDz and three of his classmates formed a rap group called "Thug Life Disciples" and started recording their own songs on a karaoke tape machine.

Soon after that, The MDz was expelled from school & put on probation.

A year later, after completing the gang, drug & alcohol courses assigned to him by his probation officer, the school district allowed The MDz to come back to public school and he attended

Hesperia High. He joined his High School football team and they was on the road to a undefeated winning streak but before he could finish the season, he was expelled once again. The MDz was sent to a school he calls "Probation High" because the schools location was at the probation office in Victorville.

All of the students there were in and out of juvenile hall.

The MDz continued to make music and was able to upgrade to a computer home studio. He learn to mix and engineer songs on his own. The MDz joined a local record label called FamBam & they sold their CD's in the streets of the Inland Empire and did live performances as their local buzz continued to build.

Somewhere during that time, The MDz violated his probation again. On the day he went to see the judge, The MDz was handcuffed in the courtroom and sent to serve time in juvenile hall.

While he was locked up, the juvenile detention center allowed him to use a electric piano during

his free time. The MDz made beats on the electric piano and wrote lyrics about life which he recited to his cell mates to pass time. When he was released, The MDz went back to the same life he always knew.

Despite the countless run ins with the law and street conflicts, The MDz made music a big part of his life. By the age of 19, he produced/engineered 10 albums and mixtapes. Plus, he collaborated with over 50 artists from the underground scene establishing himself as the go-to-guy when it came to hot beats and features. The MDz & FamBam started doing shows with bigger names like Bone Thugs, Sugar Free,

E-40, Mack 10, Glasses Malone and more. Oddly enough, right when it seemed like he was getting to a greater level in his career, The MDz took himself out of the music scene, with no explanation, leaving everything behind him & chose a different direction in his life.

In 2009 The MDz dedicated his life to professional fighting training in mixed martial arts. He trained by himself in Victorville. To get sparing in, he would go to the local boxing gyms and call out fighters to fight in the ring against him. Quickly earning the respect of the gym members and staff, his natural in ring ability caught the attention of a local coach who trained and managed professional boxers. After a year of training with his new boxing club, in 2011 The MDz made his professional debut at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas on Showtime Boxing.

During this time, The MDz was back creating music. Carving a whole new path, he started his own music group called Toreador Dynasty & was in the middle of working on his album called "Time Capsule".

To get to the next level in his professional fighting career, he moved back to Los Angeles with intensions to train at Manny Pacquiao's gym, The Wild Card, which was located in Hollywood, CA. The MDz didn't know anyone in Los Angeles so when times got hard he found him self boucing from hotel to motel and even living in a shelter on Skid Row. After some time, he finally found a good paying job, was able to get stability & he moved back to the Inland Empire. He was ready to get the show back on the road but soon after that, while exercising at a fitness gym, he broke his ankle and once again had a setback that would take time to recover from. During the recovery, The MDz decided to go back to his first love, music.

He finally finished his album "Time Capsule" & independently released it in 2012 making it free to download for everyone. Unexpectedly, that album touched the hearts of people all across the world. Jaw dropping songs & videos from that album were played on podcasts and radio stations where they talked about politics & revolution. "Time Capsule" became his most controversial project of all time.

Fans started wondering why did he call himself The MDz.

So in a interview he said,

"Before I started calling myself The MDz which is short for Multi Dimensionz, I had lots of names.

I was known as JD The One, Tech, RedRum, Red Rizzle, Double R, Raided R, then finally even using my real name Jalani Wilson. After a while, when I looked back in time he felt like I shouldn't have labled myself with the names I had. I felt like I type casted myself. I decided I no longer wanted to lable myself again. Even my government name Jalani Wilson wasn't the way to go. There is so much to my personality. There's so many aspects to who I am. Knowledge & new experiences expands your perception. This is the freedom to do the unexpected. If I allowed one word to describe me, it would be Multi Dimensionz". - The MDz

Fans started wondering why did he call his group Toreador Dynasty.

So in a interview he said,

"I grew up in situations where life knocks you down hard. I could have either accepted that reality or did everything I could to change it. I chose not to give up on life, saying to myself that there has to be light at the end of the tunnel. I picked himself up when I was down & I chose to live, starting a whole new life.

I associate that rebirth with how vampires are created. A human get's it's blood sucked to the point of near death. Then the human drinks the blood of a vampire. The human starts feeling the changes inside it's body & mind. After a while, the human dies but then opens it's eye as a Vampire... seeing, hearing & feeling a whole new world... Reborn. Stronger. Smarter. Different. Supernatural. That metaphor eventually crossed over into my music & in 2011 I started my own music group called Toreador Dyna$ty. In the W.W books, Toreador is the name of a group of vampires who were artists, musicians or poets in life before they became the undead. The Toreador would find gifted or inspired creators then turn them into vampires to preserve their talent for eternity. In the books, Toreador has inducted some of humanities greatest artists, poets & musicians into its ranks. The overall message is that even though life may seem like a dead end, you always have the choice to pick yourself up, stand tall, grow stronger, & thrive. No matter what struggle I've been through, none of that shit ever kept me down! Some people who listen to some of the lyrics in my songs can relate to the real shit I be talking about & when I first started this, all I wanted to do was let my kindred to know that they are not alone & whatever doesn't kill you truly makes you stronger ...LIVE..." -The MDz

In 2015, The MDz moved to Compton, CA and was back making an impact in the music business. He then signed to a independent record label called One Shot Deal & released an album

called "Why So Serious?". Taking on more of a mainstream sound, The MDz hit the stage with performances at the Los Angeles Convention Center, fashion shows & Hollywood showcases.

What seemed like a promising future with the label came to a stop after The MDz & One Shot Deal realized that they couldn't come to common ground when it came to some business decisions.

Very soon after that, The MDz parted ways from the label.

Later The MDz released this statement on social media,

"Recently, I parted ways from a record label I was signed to because they couldnt except the fact that I am NOT the mindless puppet they hoped I'd be. They couldn't buy my soul nor control the direction I chose to go in MUSIC & in LIFE. To me, creative freedom as an artist & respect for myself as man

is worth more than fame or anything money can buy.

Shout out to my peepz who's ridding with me for the long run ...LIVE..." -The MDz

Wasting no time, a few months later The MDz linked up with his longtime friend, Toka Vorhees,

& released a collaborative album called "DTLA". The MDz thanked everyone who stuck with him after he decided to carve a new path in life by leaving One Shot Deal Records. To show his appreciation he made the DTLA project free to download on his website.

Later The MDz released this statement on social media,

"Since the release about a week ago, we've gotten so much positive feedback from fans all around the world & I want give a special thankz to YOU for listening! So, thankz again for all the support!

If you haven't heard our DTLA album go CHECKz IT OUT!

& if you already heard it, run that shit back ...LIVE..." -The MDz

Since The MDz is also a producer & engineer, he spent the next 3 years focused on helping other artists all around the world get to the next level in their careers.

Recently, The MDz released this statement to his fans who are signed up to his mailing list,

"I finally found time to get in the zone, hit the studio & put the finishing touches on my project. During this time, I went through life's roller coaster highs & lows, peeks & valleys, evolving & gaining new perspectives of my reality. Alot of those moments were translated into my music as I express my point of view & share my experiences at this point in time & history. Now, after all the long long nights dedicated to
geting this shit done so I can share it with the world... MY NEW ALBUM "HIEROGLYPHICZ" IS FINALLY AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE!"

His highly anticipated solo album "Hieroglyphicz" was released on August 11, 2019 & is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Deezer, Tidal, Napster, iHeartRadio & more.
